Default New used 4runner

Hello everyone I am new to the Forum and also new to the 4runner. I bought an 03 limited 4X4 with the V8.
My question is what kind of mileage can I expect to get in normal driving conditions. I do not have a lead foot and drive pretty sensible. I can get 20mpg out of my dodge 2500 4X4 with the cummins. I am hoping for something close to that but we shall see.

I have a 2006 with the V8 and I haven't gotten near 20mpg with casual driving. My daily commute is a combination of city and hwy driving. I am averaging around 15 to 17 mpg (about 3000 miles total so far). I bought the SUV with 2300, so I have logged about 700 miles. Keep in mind this is a rough estimate, but I know for a fact I haven't gotten near 20 mpg. I'll have to wait for a "Road Trip" to see what I can actually squeeze out in terms of hwy mgp.

Wellthe wife and Itookourfirst road trip in the runner. We went to Salt Lake City. The mileage was less than what I was hoping to achieve. We averaged a tic over 17 mpg going up to SLC from Vegas. Ibelieve that was due to the mountain passes. I only used the cruise control on the flats and turned it off going into the mountain passes and tried to keep it from down shifting as much as possible. I set the cruise to just under 80 mph and the tach was reading between 2000 and 2500 rpm.I did put new tires on the vehicle prior to the trip and they areone size overstock (265/70/17vs 265/65/17). I do not think that 5 cm would make that large a difference but I could be wrong. On the return trip I aired the tires up from the 35psi that the shop had them at to 42psi. The ride was not that noticeable however I had a considerable head wind to contend withand the mileage suffered considerbly (15mpg).Over all I am happy with the vehicle the ride on and off road arefar better than my 3/4 4x4 dodge but the mileageis less. We are planning another trip next month and i'm hoping mother nature will cooperate so I can really see what kind of mileage I can get.
