New 91 4runner Owner in Texas
Just a quick intro.
I just purchased my first Toyota 4runner, it is a 91 that does not run. LOL... Got to love projects. It has the 3.0 in it, auto trans, 191K miles. Started to trouble shoot it today, looks like it is the igniter. Well i hope anyway. The original owner told me that it was running one day and then would not start the following morning. They replaced the coil, cap, rotor, and decided to stop there due to the cost of the igniter. I found one out of a running 91 MR2 with the same numbers as the 4runner for $30 with a warranty from CA, so i cant wait for Monday to put it on and see if that was the problem. I will keep the forum updated on the progress.

Well time for the update:
1. It was not the igniter, it had a bad new coil. So i took it back to Autozone and got a new one started right up.
2. Well the slight valve train noise the owner told me about was a rod knock, and nothing was slight about it. LOL.....
Time for a rebuild.
Here is a pic of the new money pit.
