bumpers
I own two 4 Runners, 1997 w/232,000+ miles and a 2007 w/44,000+ miles.
Both work well. I'm trying to sell the '07, but people don't realize how well Toyotas hold their value!
I really like these vehicles and believe that they are the best in their class.
However, and all makes have done this, the advent of plastic, wrap-around "bumpers" is the worst idea the auto industry ever came up with. They say that they're cheaper to repair, but I doubt that.
I was backing into a camp parking slot and at about 1mph hit the post which held our name etc. It pushed the post back about 10" and cracked my "bumper" and shredded some of its plastic.
Question: does anyone make a steel bumper as a replacement for these? I have a 2' steel tube whuch plugs into my receiver hitch, but it doesn't extend to the sides/the width of the 4 Runner.
I'm glad to have found this site. Thanks in advance for any advice.
