3rd gen questions

I need to remove the factory head unit from a 2001 4runner and locate the amplifier.
I heard you have to remove part of the dash to replace the head unit? are there any DIY's or instructions on here?
I have searched but can't find anything.
How would I go about removing the amplifier and the head unit?
