Default third gear problem

Hi all, I've had my 1996, 3.4-litre V6 with 5-speed manual gearbox 4runner (4skinner I call it) for about a year now. I bought it with an LPG conversion which initially had a few problems but after a couple of trips to the mechanic it's now running well on both petrol or LPG. Recently though I have been having issues with getting it into third gear. The issue is at its worst when the car is cold but seems to pretty much decide itself when it wants to work or not. The probelm only occurs when I try to put it into third gear. Sometimes it will go in but fall out straight away. Other times it will stay in for a few seconds then POP out. Other times it will grind when I try to engage third and other times it will go in as if it doesn't have a problem (which is what it did when I took it to my mechanic for him to have a drive of). I'm thinking it could be something to do with the synchro but am not a mechanic so am just guessing. Anyone have any ideas.

Cheers

Default 3rd gear problem FIXED

Took my car to my local mechanic who had a look at it and found that the problem was that the bush that my gear stick sits in at the top of the gear box was completely worn out. A simple replacement with a new bush(by him) and 3rd gear is back in business.
Happy days.
