poor fuel economy, SLOW!
Hello everyone, I am new to this forum. I recently purchased a 94 4runner with the 3.0. I like the truck but it is very doggy and only gets about 13 mpg. The plug/wires/cap/rotor/air filter are new. I have checked the timing and it is correct. Im leaning towards o2 sensor??? No engine light is on... Maybe I'm expecting to much out of it? Thanks

I have the same problem with my 93 4runner. All the same items have been replaced and it seems to be pretty sluggash as well. I just bought it so many I am expecting too much out of this? would the 02 sensor be the problem?

I am in the same boat w/ my 93 V6 4Runner. I've had it for about 2 1/2 years and it's never had A LOT of power but recentlyI have definitely been seeing a big change in gas mileage and power drop. I'm wondering about O2 sensor and also someone mentioned the catalytic convertor maybe???

A drop in power is usually caused by a bad catalytic converter. I had the same problem with my 4runner. An easy way to check is to drive the truck up a hill, if you can't go more than 20 mph, it's more than likely your catalytic converter.

i have a 90 model 3.0 changed the exhaust- new plugs- wires- cap- k&n filter and eventually thecat it still gets 13 mpg in town 15 mpg highway and is as fast as the dodge neon next door it must be a 3.0 thing. I can't knock it though it has been (knock on wood) one of the best vehicles I have ever owned.
