I want YOUR opinion on shocks
I need to get shocks first thing for my new 3rd gen '96 4Runner. Since I need to replace them anyway I intend on going for something high-performance. So far, Old Man Emu (expensive), KYB, and Rancho have good-looking sets. I would greatly appreciate any info about the pros and cons, likes and dislikes anybody here has experienced regarding their aftermarket shocks. Thanks!

RE: I want YOUR opinion on shocks
Something you may want to take into consideration if you have a stock suspension now is that off-road-type shocks are generally a LOT stiffer than stock. People will sometimes notice your truck being particularly bumpy, and you'll spill your coffee from time to time.
That said, I have Superlift (identical to Skyjacker) shocks on my lifted Grand Cherokee and am quite happy with them, other than the fact that the bushings and steel pieces holding them were a little small and got "smashed" while ripping through tough trails. I upgraded them with parts from some other shocks and they're great now. Rancho shocks are probably the most reputable shocks in that class and do perform well as well. The 5000's are a fairly modest upgrade and more suitable for a daily driver than the 9000's.
