hey i have a 87 4runner and am having a problem with high rpm
whenever i push the clutch in i can hear the engine gain rpm until my shift is complete, also sitting at a traffic light with my foot off the peddle and the trany in neutral, it runs at a very high rpm, if i give it a quick rev, it drops back down to its normal idle speed, unfortunatly i dont have a tac so i cant see what my engine rpm is, anyone have any ideas?

has it been tuned up recently? very high mileage? any prior problems like this?
