88 V6 fan/pulley fell off???
Hello everyone.
I borrowed my brother's 88 4Runner, V6 3.0, manual. (he knew about it btw, so no problem here).
anyway, the truck was parked for about 2 weeks, at low temperatures. (about -30C). one night i came out, started it - no problem. let it run for about 30 mins, shut it off.
next night - same scenario - started, let it run for about 30 mins. But this time had to drive it. 2 mins after starting moving the battery light came on, and some crunching sounds came from under the hood. Siince i was in the hurry i left the truck where it was, and left with someone else.
upon inspection the following was discovered:
alternator belt broke
power steering belt - hangs loose.
the fan/pulley assembly kind of "hangs in there" - not tight, if it wasnt for the rad shroud it probably would fall right down to the ground.
I didnt see any leaks under the truck.
now, i am in the middle of the nowhere. Am i royally screwed, or is it just a nut somewhere that came loose?
unfortunatly i usually had different kind of cars, and never had to deal with trucks. i know that 4runners are kind of different.
i could take pics and upload them, but not at the moment - its dark, and i have only phone camera.
