2003 4 Runner: Issue with fan on cold day(s)
I have a 2003 4Runner and am having an issue. Twice during very cold days (15F or colder), my fan for the heat does not work. I can feel heat coming out of the vents, but the fan does not turn on. So the heat kind of "leaks" out.
The first day, I drove all the way to work (1 hour commute) freezing my feet off. At work, I parked in the sun and My 4Runner and the air temp warmed up to about 35F. When I turned my car on after work, the fan worked fine.
For the next two weeks, the fan did not have an issue...it never got below 15, but did get below 25.
The second time it happened was today. It was 9 deg F when I woke up this morning. The fan did not work. Again, I could feel warm air coming out the vents after about 5-10 minutes. I drove about 1/2 hour and started turning the fan on and off (between hi and off). All of sudden it kicked on. So finally I was able to warm myself up.
Any ideas of what is going on?
Thanks in advance!

RE: 2003 4 Runner: Issue with fan on cold day(s)
It happened again today. This time it was 4 degrees when I got in my car. However, instead of waiting for too long, I waited about 10 minutes and then started turning the fan from hi-off-hi-off. About 10 tries later, the fan kicked on.
Any ideas?
