1989 4runner

Default 1989 4runner

ok guys i have a few questions....i have an 89 4runner sr5 with the v-6 and auto tranny. i want to do a solid axle swap and change transfer case to a gear drive. the front axle and t-case i have is out of an 83 model. is this swap feasible, and for the transfer case what will i need to make the swap? thanks

Hi there Dont no bout transfer case is it fro a22R/
And the solid axle swap is possible ( but what Ive heard ) Its alot of WORK
Hope some one else on here will no more

thanks. i found out that the donor vehicle is a '79 model. i can make the axle swap, i just need to know about the transfer case. the motor was a 20r. just ned to know what all i would need to use this transfer case with my v6 and automatic tranny.

thanks again. i plan on dropping a small block in it this fall. curious to see how the v6 does, it has been completely rebuilt and has only about 5000 miles on it. who knows, might even be worth something to someone that wants a low mileage v6 with an auto tranny and gear driven transfer case all in one package!

well, i have a 1990 4runner and am in the process of making a solid axle swap. i know its real hard but i think i got it. my question isshould i custom build some new driveshafts? i dont want to have to replace u-joints all the time

1990stock, i'm sure you would have to get a new driveshaft, as for the swap being hard, yours may be a little more tricky than mine only because your gen 2 never had a solid axle under the front. i think 84's to 89's were that same as in usind the same frame and other stuff.
