Hello all. I just purchased an 06 4runner 4WD SR5 with the 4.0 V6 and a 5spd auto transmission. There is no transmission dipstick. Since I am new to the toyota world, I was amazed and called the dealer. The dealer says they simply replace the fluid at 100,000 miles. What has been the experience with transmissions? What about towing applications?

Also has anybody found some mirror extensions that work? I have an 8 foot wide trailer and the mirrors aren't quite far enough out to see beyond the trailer. Thank You.

 

hello fatherdoug, I just got the same a week ago and have not noticed that there was no dipstick. that is strange, but so far I love mine. my insurance dropped and gas mileage went up about 3 mpg over my pick-up.

 

We like ours, also. Speaking of insurance, we transferred full coverage insurance from a 1995 ford aerostar to the 06 4runner and there was a difference of .30 on the price. I was amazed. The agent said she just cringes when somebody buys a new ford pickup and wants full coverage.
