Known "Major" engine issues question?
Hey guys,
I own a 99" V6 3.4 litre with 135 K that runs great.I bought it used at 60K for years ago,I change the oil with Mobil 1every 5- 6K andmaintain the car as I should as far as the trans fluid and coolant, differentials, chasis lube ect...
Here, are the only"Minor" issues I have ever had:
1) spark plug issues with my 30K maximum plugs at 78 K....i found out later the the plugs were 30K max...my bad
2)my telescopinganntenastopped workingat 133K. I replaced it for $24.99 (OEM) parton ebay
3) my cd player stopped reading some disks at 130K, Sprayed some compressed air in CDslot and It works better now.
4) very small coolant leak (just a few drips from time to time). Its sosmall thatI havent really trouble shotthe issue yet.
and.....that's pretty much it!!!
After hearing some of the comments about somemajor engine issues after 130k,I havejust a couple of questions:
What year(s) of 4 runnerswere thethe head gasket issues/ recallfor?
Also, were the runner's with"rod bearing"issues drivensuper rough? I can see any engine having bearing issues if the vehicle was poorly maintained or highlyabused... i could be wrongbut at130K to start having major engine issueseems a little young for a toyota....
don't you think?
Thanks,
Mark

RE: Known "Major" engine issues question?
the headgasket issue is for the 3.0 motors, as for the rod bearing deal it does seem young for a yota , Its not that its guranted that it will happen, just that is has been know to. Your right the better you take care of your truck the less likly it is to happen, but again there are some issues with them. I drive a 99 3.4 aslo, I've never heard of this problem with the 3.4 but I'm sure there is someone out there who knows more then me. Hope I could help.
