Default How do I disable traction control?

Anyone know how to disable the traction control on a 2005 4 Runner in 2 wheel drive? I figured it out in 4WD High if you turn on the differential lock it turns off the traction control. There should be a button to disable it in 2WD.

I wish I knew. To me this is a safety issue when a light on the dash controls the throttle. You can sit there in traffic trying to move, but because the system figures you have lost traction, it controls your gas pedal, and you can't even spin your way forward by even a little bit:- The driver cannot control the throttle...

Thank you for the tips. Proper care will save money in long term. Generally I don’t learn article on blogs, however I wish to say that this write-up very compelled me to take a look at and do so!

From a read of the handbook, a 2WD runner cannot have VSC turned off. As LittleBuddy has said, it can't be done.
You might be able to do it by hot-wiring or bypassing something, but I do not know how to do that.
The thing that gets me is the constant chattering when you set off. Even though there is no slippage or anything, my throttle does not respond until the vehicle decides to:- not me, but the vehicle....
There's something wrong with that IMHO !!!

1) warm up the engine fully.
2) turn off the engine.
3) the side brake needs to be released.
4) press and hold the brake and start the engine.
5) while holding the brake, pull the side brake and let go of the brake.
6) press the brake 2 or more times and hold the brake.
7) while holding the brake, release and pull the side brake 2 or more times and hold the side brake.
8) while holding the side brake, press the brake 2 times.
9) TC and VSC lights should turn on.

If you can't turn the TC and VSC back on by pressing the buttons, then it worked. You'll need to turn off the engine to turn TC and VSC back on.

Hope this help..
