I just bought a 2002 4runner and I have about 2 days to get the extended warranty. The truck only has 30k miles and the warranty is for 84 months or 100k miles from the time I bought it. Its through Toyota. It will cost about $650.00.

I had a 1990 4runner that I bought with about 195k miles and sold it with 230k miles only because I thought it wouldn't last long. The only thing I had to replace was the motor for the tailgate window. Other than that, just regular maintenance.

I'm not a fan of SUV's but after I drove the '90 I was surprised how well it took corners. The '02 handles even better.

With Toyota reliability, I'm not sure if the extended warranty is worth it. I do plan to keep the truck until the wheels fall off.

Any suggestions?
