Automatic Lock vs Unlock

Automatic Lock vs Unlock
Just got a Silver SR5 4x4. Love it so far. How can I have the doors NOT automatically be locked all the time? When letting someone out I don't want to have to hit unlock everytime.

I tried what the manual says (Hold unlock button back for 5 secs). Didn't work. Please help.

Thanks.

Automatic Lock vs Unlock
I have a 04 SR5. I am with you that the auto locks is a a pain. I have noticed that in the front seats the passenger can just pull the door handle from the inside and the door auto unlocks. This does not work for the rear, but its a start. I am sure that there is a way to dis-engage the auto lock feature, but I am not advanced enough to get into all that.

RE: Automatic Lock vs Unlock
There is a specific procedure in the owner's manual that involves several steps. You can change the configuration from locking when the tranny is taken out of park, to not locking when the tranny is taken out of park. I don't remember the specific procedure, but I have used it and it works. ( The 4Runner is gone right now, so I don't have access to the manual.)
