The 4runner blues
Hello folks. Accidently found this website and thought I would find some Toyota mechanics on here. About6 years ago I bought a 1987 4Runner from a friend who had a blown motor. I replaced the motor with a crate motor from Advance Autos. Then I fully camoed the whole truck. It has been the ultimate countryboy truck. It took me to work and anyplace I wanted to go in the woods or swamps. However, I have run into a problem. It will start up just fine when cold, you can even let it warm up in the driveway to full temperture and it will restart but if you drive it5 miles or more, once you shut it off it won't start back. It will crank but now fire up.It will have to sit 4-6 hours and will start right up. I thought I'd give it a good tune up so I have replaced the fuel pump(it was weak), plugs, plug wires, coil, distributor cap, and rotor button. I even took off the EGR valve, dashpot filter and cold start injector and cleaned them. None of the things I have done so far has not improved the problem at all. Anybody got any ideas? I sure would try anything right now.
