How come Toyota builds their cars so cheap?

I drove a 2004 Toyota Corrolla while in Florida and if there was any type if wind it was flying all over the place it was built so light.

Im pretty sure you can justify calling newer toyotas cheap, but the older toyotas (especially the old runners) are known to be little tanks. you can put them through hell and they will keep on running strong
